People that I've known in the manufacturing businesses seem to agree:
If you have something made in China and the US company rides their *ss on quality control, material traceability, dimensional inspection, etc., you can get a good product.
If you throw a drawing over the proverbial wall and then sit back and wait for a box of parts to hit our shore, it's got high odds of being shortcutted crap.
