My 69 400HO bird convertible was ordered in a similar fashion by its original owner in nov 68. He was stationed in Germany and ordered the car at a German GM dealership. He took delivery at Boas Pontiac in San Fran a few months later when he went back to civilian life. I’ve got all the paperwork, looks like he paid about 20% off sticker. Better than the typical 10-15% you could squeeze out of a dealer back then.

It would be delivered to your hometown dealer when you rotated back to the states. Motorcycles were included too. IIRC, Harley had their own sales representative that floated between the bases. .
