how about changing the gears in the transmission i have a 2.75 first and 1.78 2nd gear in my Th350 with 3.31 rear end in the 66 tempest that goes great out the gate, and Th400 with 2.93 in my bonneville i haven't finished the bonne yet both cars with healthy/stealthy 455's and 10" converters
