Yeah, I *believe* it could have gone either way with the HO. But
the odds strongly favor the Rochester. And when you consider
the Carter-made units are less desirable castings...
My 7027262 (HO/auto) never had that bypass, it's bowl vent isn't
slant cut either. Also checked three other early carbs (68 Buick,
and 68 Olds) and none of those have the bypass either - both of
my 7029268 carbs do though. HTH.
