I wonder why anyone servicing alternators that would want to mount a tach on their steering column. This tach came assembled with the cup and mounting bracket just as you see here. When I removed the tach from the cup to get pics, it was a snug fit, due to the fact that someone had wrapped masking tape around the body, just below the bezel; on it was hand written: tested with a V-8 engine and a date. I can't imagine why that would be written on there if the tachometer wasn't for an engine.
