On the OP noise complaint, you need to duplicate the noise on a lift or jackstands and use a mechanics stethescope and listen to components. That could be gear clash in the trans which to a point is normal.

There’s a sheet metal type box that screws in to cover it up . When you’re done you run a small bead of silicone around the edges to keep out debris.
