Correct. Stainless heat transfer coefficient is way less than mild. Like 1/3 to 1/4 as much so it keeps heat in the exhaust better. I would absolutely opt for stainless over mild steel. I have had to redo my ceramic coating over the years as well and don't want to deal with that.
