It really does have the feel of an already abandoned site.
There is something fundamentally wrong somewhere, isp, server software, forum software, I don't know, but it's broken on a core level.
Where do donations to the forum go? Are they actually used on forum upkeep? Some level of transparency would be a help. Is there ad revenue that can be generated from non-automotive sources? Often a site that generates this level of activity can see some monetary gain from advertising.
Is the ISP a small town outfit left over from the dial-up days? Owned by a brother-in-law ... etc. Does it need to move to a proper forum hosting provider?
I've been on dozens of "niche" forums with considerable traffic that have been running smooth and affordably for decades.
I've seen this before, it snowballs. No one will say how much it costs to run the site, no one knows how the finances operate, donations requested but no "goal" is stated, people don't see progress on problems so they stop donating.
And ... is there anyone actually "in charge" ?
