Agree that it looks like a work around for the typical fuel inlet stripped threads. Im assuming someone put a pipe thread on the smaller inner diameter, actually not a bad move if SOL.
Get the inlet thread repaired with a timesert, pretty typical issue that a lot of good carb guys can fix.
