The adjustable pivot ball makes up the last piece of the puzzle to maintain the proper geometry. You can bring the bearing in closer to the fingers while keeping the bearing end of the fork parallel to the pressure plate and making sure the the other end is ahead of the fork is slightly forward. Then you'll have the geometry correct so it has the leverage to fully disengage the clutch and the TO is centered on the bearing retainer. Any time you change any components or resurface the flywheel you'll be able to fine tune it back. I've run them in several cars, now I have hydraulic.
