Eh, whenever Im calculating if Im going to farm something out, I add in how much I make per hour at my job and how much time I think Im going to spend on this. After buying the silica blasting material and factoring in my time I probably would be $200 or more into this. And thats assuming it goes as expected and only takes me a couple hours. Maybe I find out the blaster isnt powerful enough for this application. All of a sudden $45-50 that I was quoted doesnt sound bad.

It would be different if it was something I wanted to do. I enjoy the painting part. The sanding part..... not so much. That math might not math for everyone, and thats fine. But I value my free time and want to spend it on the things I actually want to do.
