I'm getting conflicting statements on the need to have a scavenge pump for an oil cooler vs running a cooler from the factory style pump.

Did you monitor oil temps at all? If so, what did they look like?
Wet sump with Canton T-pan. No oil pressure issues. The cooler is full flow. Oil from the block goes thru the filter, then oil cooler and back to block. Moroso accumulator plumbed into the block by the distributor. I dont measure oil temperature. I picked the oil cooler based on reasonable size to mount and it looks like the cooler that Herb Adams used. My only other data point is that it's about twice as big as Shelby used on the 427 Cobras.
