The You tuber channel "Watch Wes Work" is something I watch occasionally. He is in a rural setting and works from a garage on his property.

In the latest one I watched he's working on a late model Wrangler and had 6 hours into just sourcing the parts for it due to wrong parts in the wrong boxes. A thermostat and a lower ball joint, plus the ball joint he got to replace the wrong boxed part was defective, and didn't match the one he was installing in the other side by dimension, even though both parts were stamped with the same part numbers, he had to source another one and drive 40 miles to get it. He quoted 4 hours for 4 ball joints and replace the thermostat, and had roughly 10 hours on that job because of poorly made and wrong boxed parts.

On almost every show he has trouble either sourcing the correct parts, or parts that aren't defective out of the box. You can't charge the customer for all the extra trips and phone calls, so he uses the income from You Tube to defray the costs of wrong/defective parts.

He said the parts problem has gone from roughly once a week, to every day in the last 5 years, I have no reason to doubt that statement.

I'm really glad at this point that I'm retired, and only have to keep my own junk running, no customer deadlines.
