Wow, this would've been good to come across the last couple weeks as I've been pulling out (what's left) of my hair. I have a similar problem with my new MR1A block, but every tunnel is roughly 0.0015 oversized (front is .002 oversized). After 200 1/8 mile passes into this season and 2 1/4 miles, the front cam bearing came completely out of the block. Thankfully it didn't tear it up anything else from the babbitt circulating through the oil.
My machine shop is approaching this problem in a very similar manner to what you did. Excellent work, man. This gives me hope mine will make it the rest of the year following this approach.
What did you end up with on interference for each hole? Sorry to bring up an old thread. I enjoy educating myself on all these problems I've never had LOL
