I understand how you feel and I am at the same point. I have three older vehicles the 79 Trans Am, C10 and 84 camping van. There seems to be something needed on one of them every weekend and the Avalanche is starting to need a few things done as well. I really enjoy driving the Trans Am and all the thumbs up I get but sitting that low in car is killer getting in and out. It is rewarding working on your own car but at the same time as you said taxing. I recently was working on brake lines on the C10 and what a PITA. I stripped the flare line going to rubber hose not to mention the retaining nut somehow, I lost. I tried changing metal line but the metal line I bought was a different pitch and so fluid leaked everywhere while trying to screw it in blindly into provalve, it fit fine into rubber hose. The proportioning valve is between the lower frame rail right under the fan shroud. Why the proportioning valve couldn't be located under master cylinder like almost every other vehicle is beyond me. So I have to do this job again probably with ni/cop to make it easier to bend and flare the ends after taking off old metal line again and taking the OE flare nut that went into provalve. I guess my desire to work on vehicles has led me to the decesion of wanting to sell. Good luck on whatever your decision is, sometimes it is just time to pass things on to someone else
