There is the possibility mine was cleaned up. I bought them used and then they had a small amount of port work done to get them to flow about 305cfm.

Having a used head with the carbon deposits is great. Joe Mondello taught me in class, " the engine, (cylinder head) will tell you what it wants. It leaves finger prints behind". Steve points out where improvements can be made to help out the bathtub chamber. He has had his hands on so many heads, he knows right where to go and massage. I don't think these Pontiac E-heads are terrible. There are way worse set-ups out there in the muscle car world. 409 Chevy jumps right to the front of the list after struggling with those last year.
