Your post made me go have a look...
In attached pic, there are two parking brakes like what you posted. They are both from 1969 Grand Prixs built in Pontiac MI plant, and only 500 vin sequences apart. The curved arm is the later if the two from a 11A car (auto), the straight pedal arm is 10E car (4 speed), Also have a third 69 GP auto built 9B in same plant with the straight pedal arm. I then looked at a 70 GTO from Pontiac plant built 12A (a year later) and it has the straight arm,

Based on what I have, it is not an Oshawa thing, or auto vs 4 speed. It is likely just an alternate supplier, with both designs being correct
