Don't you have a junkyard nearby to grab rocker arms to fiddle with? Or friends with SBC junk bins?
Zillions of SBC engines had non-self-aligning rocker arms.
I believe Pioneer still sells 3/8" stud Pontiac rocker arms, possibly the early ones. If not, I'm sure Kanter Auto has them (but they're typically on the expensive side).
