Many of these parts vendors buy discontinued, obsolete, and excess inventory from closed dealers and liquidators and resell them. In the early 80s through the mid 90s a lot of the stuff I bought from Ames and Year One was OEM/GM, still in the original packaging with the vendor simply slapping their label and part number on it. I believe that is still the practice today as some of the catalog items are listed as GM.

I had an 87 TransAm/GTA and I have an 89 GTA; I purchased both cars new. The OEM wheels were made in Japan.
