You made me go back and look;
I thought I was mistaken, but nope;
That's a 1969 Pontiac 400/auto carb;
It's the '69 version of a 7040264.
I actually got my notification of this car just before it went live;
My initial reaction was that it was a nice looking car.
I can look past deficiencies considering it hasn't been mucked with.
I was quite surprised to see the 'YS' engine complete with standard exhaust manifolds - it makes me wonder if the engine there was just bought as a "replacement" period 400 in decades bygone;
That also makes me wonder if the EUN (0023693) would indicate it's a '69 engine or '70 engine.
The only pieces that are distinguishable from the provided pictures are:
- "log" exhaust manifolds
- 1970 intake manifold (casting number shown)
- '69 Pontiac L78 Quadrajet
The paperwork from the engine work done in 2015 indicates it has "ram air 3" cam (back of sheet) - but everything is covered up to the point that I cannot tell what heads it has.
It does appear to me to have more correct, or period correct parts than many cars that have been put back together.
It has the correct power steering pump which seems to be one of the tell-tale signs of someone just swapping in any old engine - it also has the correct throttle cable bracket, and I dare say that wrong engine and interior colour aside, it still presents well, and could be a good buy for the right person.
