I'm reminded of the '79 301 Lemans Stocker, that Don Himes drove. He ran high 12's in NHRA Stock form.
I don't know about the 10.5 CR engine. But, there are all sorts of fixes for that.
Question: This may have already been answered, but would a 301 '79 Lemans have come with a 7.5 rear or 8.5 ?
I've read that the 7.5 can be built to survive some high performance use, with the correct build & the right parts, such as a good posi unit, stronger axles, and a special rear cover. Anybody know any secrets for makin 'em live ?

Another question: Is there an 8.5 rear that will bolt in, to replace a late Lemans 7.5 ? I'm assuming the later Lemans models had coil springs. ?
