We had a mostly great trip to Nashville for the Triple Crown of Rodding show. Easily the best show that I've been to, and the highest quality cars that I've ever seen, I highly suggest that you attend if you are able.

On the drive up there, about 80 miles from our hotel, the ignition coil went out with the cruise set @ 70 MPH. I've never had a coil go bad while driving before, it backfired more violently than I would have imagined. I was scared that the timing chain had jumped a tooth or broke at first. After sitting on the side of the interstate for 4.5 hours in the dark waiting on a tow truck that never came, a buddy and his son came with an empty trailer and got us to the hotel. The next morning, we went to an O'Reilly's and got a cap, coil, and rotor and she fired up and purred like a kitten again. Now that it is home again, I'll order better quality parts, 2 of everything so I can carry spares in the trunk!

Other than the previously mentioned snafu, the only other issue was the master A/C relay on the firewall started getting stuck closed making the blower motor stay on even with the key off. Now that I've gotten the relay contacts to open, they won't close again. I've ordered new connectors for the relay because it was slightly melted from the heat and current. But I can't find a GM or Delco relay to replace the bad one. Does any one have a GM or Delco part # that I can search for? Or is the Ames reproduction unit a good quality relay? Part # M156YD

At the show, I was approached by several people that thanked me for keeping the GTO all Pontiac. They were even more blown away when I told them that Dad bought it brand new and I was almost born on the front seat. All in all, we had a great weekend, and I can't wait to do it again.
