From reading that thread it seems like the epoxy primer "becomes" the bare metal and you don't want to do anything that removes this epoxy base .. so use urethane or poly primer above the epoxy. And reapply the epoxy over any bare metal spots.
I always end up with a lot of high metal so I guess I'm going to have to deal with that as much as I can before I apply the epoxy.
