The car was originally purchased from Jack Winkler Motors in Hondo Texas. The car retains the original dealer plate on the truck lid. In 2003, the car was purchased by a collector in Oklahoma. It was a single owner car at that point.
The collector went on to have a complete mechanical refurbishment performed. I have receipts for close to $13k. I purchased the car from the collector in early 2014 when he was downsizing his collection. Jim from Truly Vintage transported the car from Oklahoma to NY. I held on to the car for close to two years, and sold it to someone in NJ in late 2015. He wanted some more power, and had the stroker engine built. I always regretted selling the car, and when it came back up for sale in 2018, I immediately bought it back from the same guy I sold it to. I will probably regret selling it again, but another car is on the way, and I could use the garage space.
