If the original is 0-35 ohms and the repro is 0- 30 ohms, you can't just fix the problem by adding a 5 ohm resistor. All that does is shift the problem from one end of the scale to the other making it a 5-35 ohm. You are either picking for it to be accurate at full, or accurate at empty. Personally, I'd rather it show 3/4 when it's full than it show 1/4 when it's empty. If zero ohms is empty, adding the 5 ohm resistor will make it read 1/6 tank when it's actually empty.
