1972 was a weird year. It uses a different bracket than the 70 and 71. Look for a 73 or 74 (pre HEI) bracket. They are pretty much the same as the 72. The reason for the change was that the 72 intake manifold had a slight alteration to the intake runners and the heat riser which forced them to alter the throttle cable bracket mounting points and thus the coil mounting spot.

The 1972 coil mounts to rearmost holes in the driver's side cylinder head and NOT The throttle bracket like 70 and 71.
