You could definitely fab something up - they are just there to hold the muffler hanger 'L' brackets in place and insulate them from rubbing/banging against the brackets that mount to the floor. I believe you could also replace the entire hanger with the later style hangers - and those are reproduced.
My car currently has stock manifolds (non ram-air) with Pypes downpipes and a Flowmaster 'American Thunder' system. I've tried to keep the original mounts and hangers in place as my long term plan is to replace the entire system with a Gardner (or similar) replica of the original one.
