Bushing ears on the Buick are as exactly as you describe. Either GM had two axle plants making the same axle, one for Buick/Oldsmobile and one for Pontiac, or they had one making the same axle then casting it for Buick/Olds and Pontiac.
Either way the Buick and the 64 Pontiac rear end are the same.
