Not really a racing story. A few days ago my mom was telling me about the night that she and my dad,[he passed away in 1999] bought their 66 GTO. Picked it up at the dealer in November 1965.
Since it was on the showroom floor it had close to zero miles on it. Instead of taking an easy family drive around town or back home he heads for his favorite street racing spot.
Its about a 30 mile drive and my mom said she was crying and yelling at him the whole time to let her out. She said she was really mad at him because he was racing our brand new and only car. She was also upset because she didn't think they would be able to make the $33.00 monthly payments.

Best part of the story is I was 4 yrs old at the time and going street-racing with my parents in a brand new 66 GTO. Too bad I don't remember it.

This is where it sits today, unrestored and still looking good.
