Just keep sucking out the fluid until it's at the proper level. This is a prime example why I don't like others touching my vehicles. These cars are just too old and unique for most mechanics that are not well into retirement age. BTW, replacing the o-ring for the filter pickup tube is highly recommended when the pan is off.
