I'm no expert Steve, but it seems to me that longer rods, moving the piston pin further from the crankshaft and increasing the stroke would all move the side of the conrod much closer to the edge of the bottom of the bore when that crank throw was at about 80 degrees either side of TDC. I'm just amazed that there is enough room.
