I recall seeing some engine production figures, that show that they overwhelmingly came with the standard 350 2bl.
In general, for a given make and model car, four door versions will almost always outnumber two door versions. I got those numbers from John Gunnell's book "75 Years of Pontiac-Oakland". I can't say if the numbers were transposed but he was usually pretty accurate with his figures.

I just looked at the book again and found another statistic: he said 269 Luxury Lemans came with manual transmissions.

I have a friend who owned a two door Luxury Lemans back around 1980, his had a 400 in it. I remember he pulled the motor, replaced it with a 350 from a junkyard, and then pulled the 4 barrel Sprint six motor out of his 1967 Firebird and put the 400 in that. Of course at the time they were just old cars, no one was too concerned about matching numbers or rarity.
