That's all the drivetrain breakdown that is available. Have had a copy of Fred's sheet for 2 decades. There is no breakout for the 400 2bbl engine, or one could subtract the total of the 400 2bbl +400 4bbl & 455 Dport, & then get the big number of 350 2bbl cars produced in both 2dr hardtop & 4door hardtop bodystyles.
'72 2 door hardtop Lux LeMans outnumbered the 4 doors, due to the 4 doors being 4 door hardtops. Pontiac 4 door hardtop A-body's from '66-72, always had low production numbers, unlike 4 door Sedans avail in lower body levels.
Have dragged in & parted a TON of '72 Lux LeMans. Other than darn holes for the stainless trim in the fenders, doors, decklid, they have made decent partscars. Early 90's, parted a 2door heavy loaded 455 Lux LeMans, 3.07 pisi, tilt, cruise, pwr bucket seat, FM Stereo, rear deIce, etc. Filed away, have a copy of the original build sheet & the protecto plate. If that Lux LeMans had been more solid in the rear 1/4's, might have tried to save it. Also parted on another Lux LeMans 455 hardtop: (eng frame brackets 12 bolt pegleg, seatbelts).
Only '72 Lux LeMans manual trans car can remember hands on was a 350 2door hardtop at French Lake MN, close to 15 years ago. Was surprised at the assembly of that car as it was 3 on the tree. That was also one of the very few '72 Lux's I've run across that was just a factory heater car, in the South, factory AC was ordered on nearly every one of 'em. Have been told by two previous Pontiac dealers that Pontiac brought the '72 Lux's out for the '72 model, to provide an upscale competitor to the very popular Cutlass Supreme. Cutlass Supremes, with their formal roof lines & very similar option mix had become very popular sellers.
