It is true the the '64 and prior GM gauges are 30 ohm. I discovered this years ago. I purchased a Spectre (I think) sender to weld a 1/2" pick-up tube into. Then figured out that it didn't match. So I modified my original. I've since put an EFI tank in. I bought a used '65 fuel gauge and swapped it in place of my '64 gauge.
