im not 100% sure on the 79's but im pretty positive 3.42 was the only option for W72 4speeds in 78. & ive never heard of 3.08 for pontiac 400s in 78-79 W72 t/a's, but thats not saying they didnt exist.
my car also has headers & bigger exhaust with H pipe, the long 1 piece cable seems to fit & work great. also i have always used a graphite lube for speedo cabless, thought i read or heard back in the day that grease was a bad thing on speed cables??
