It's waterslide mania! Surprisingly, the white toner cartridge arrived early yesterday so I've been busy making color separations and experimenting with printer settings and different decal papers.
The toner setup is pretty slick. You simply swap it for the black the cart in the printer and print your white layer. When you run the rest of your colors, you put the black cart back in and print as normal. Since the paper goes in and out in multiple passes, registration can be an issue so I've been futzing with the overprint and trapping. The printer settings also require a little tweaking to get the toner to lay down nicely.
This laser setup wasn't a cheap endeavor at a little over $800, but I'm happy with the output and it frees me up to do custom requests in addition to printing on demand via the latest software.
The owner of a '68 Firebird sent me a few examples of original water slide tire pressure decals, so I figured I'd knock a few of those out since they sit on white. The '68 jack decals came out pretty good too. Way better than the current option anyway.
