Can't remember who I talked to over there as it was a couple years back but I think he told me 2-4 light coats. I imagine a decent bit of it is getting sanded off anyhow so more probably wouldn't hurt anything at all and that might be what he was thinking as well. There was a member here a number of years back that really highlighted this whole process and put SPI on the map on these forums. Paulatfast was his forum name, havent seen him on here since around 2010. He ran a Pontiac restoration company and did a ton of these bumpers, he did some really nice work! When I painted mine I put just enough base to cover then did 3 light coats of clear. So far it's holding up perfectly and I hope it stays that way.
