In '66 all Radio related power switches could be Factory and/or Dealer installed,
I would think '65 would be the same.

In the '66 Owners manual, they show the "standard" placement of power accessory switches. If you have a '65 OM it should also show this to confirm the same or similar layout.

As you have seen the switches were placed between the gauge pods, and the Bezels are stepped. They would be placed on the lower reward dropdown on the face of the Dash Bezel.
There is a hole needed for the switch stem and the guide (anti-spin) pin on the switch bezels.

This can be done in the car but many parts need to be disconnected to allow access above/behind the dash bezel, so IMO this is best done with the dash bezel fully removed.
