I always cut mine from plastic drop cloth or anything like that. I spray a little Gorilla Glue adhesive on the perimeter of the door and stick it down. Cut to shape, poke holes where you need them. Don't glue the lower edges but instead, tuck that inside the door structure so that any water that gets on the wrong side of the plastic will drip down into the door bottom and drain out like it's designed to.
I just pulled mine recently to replace the door glass and it peeled right off without even tearing the plastic. Almost like low tack tape. Re-glued when ready.
