Take a look at any MOTORS, Chilton or Haynes manual. They have step by step Pontiac specific as well as large generic sections on overhaul basics, large electrical and trans sections, brake overhaul etc. Example: most electrical questions could be answered by opening a manual specific to your year of car including wiring diagrams. BTW, for those who dont know, many manual and wiring diagrams are available free from http://www.oldcarmanual.com/
I dont know why more people dont have at least a cheap manual for there car. they are only about $15.00 at any Checker, Autozone, PepBoys etc. The old MOTORS manuals going back into the 60s and 70s are easily found at used book stores, 15-20 bucks
