I have a 4 post extended width, and height, like Cliffs.
Had one HUGE problem where the sheave bearings on one end that have double pulleys gave out and the rod that goes in the middle of them just fell out when the cables had slack. Mine looked similar to Bob's ( pictured above) with my Formula top side. I used a lolly column and floor jack to get it back level and on the locks.
The FAILURE was the sheave ( pulley stack ) bearings. They never get lube. I have looked at a bunch since, and every one I have seen had wear there. I Highly recommend putting some tri flow or Zep on those double stack bearings, or all the pulley bearings.
The Worst part of a lift is when you put stuff under it ( besides a vehicle) and then you don't use the car up top cause its a pain to get it down!!
