Default Broken tripower carbs. Any value?

I got these on a 66 TP intake. I was so concerned at looking at the intake number I didn’t notice it has a broken runner. So I bought a doorstop basically. I’m sure it could be repaired but not economically.

Had all the carbs. I posted before when I got it and I was told they did look like real tripower carbs. Unfortunately they look like they were run over with a semi.

I know some people rebuild these carbs on the board. I was just wondering if they have any value to anyone to strip for parts or if I should just toss them in the scrap heap.

I’m not looking to make any real money off them. If they could be of use to someone for the bases or something I would send them out very cheaply.

Buddy. I don’t have a good number. Tell me what they are worth to you and I’ll let them go cheaper than that probably. I just don’t want to scrap rare carbs that might be useful in some capacity.

If you happen to be a professional carb rebuilder I would trade them for labor on a qjet rebuild.

Could I get a picture of the drivers side of all carbs. Really only interested in the bowls mostly. I can shoot you a price after that. Sorry, I am not a rebuilder just may need them for my own resto.

Front carb looks ok. The rear carb is toast, except for the base. Center carb may be OK, but the airhorn web may be warped. That can be fixed if it's not broken.

I'm confident all the bases are OK.

The most valuable carb you have is the '66 center, if it's a real OEM Tri-Power carb.

Tag on center carb crosses to a 1961 Oldsmobile 394 service carburetor, produced in March of 1964.

Jeremy was kind enough to send the carbs to me for evaluation. I have disassembled these carbs. Jon is correct--the center carb is an Old's Rochester 2G. The front carb is a correct '64 thru '66 carb, as is the crunched rear carb.

All the throttle shafts are frozen by corrosion. I freed the front carb shaft, but the throttle base is badly corroded, including the bores that the throttle plates contact. I have not been able to move the center or rear throttle shafts, in spite of spraying with Kroil and use of a propane torch. The steel throttle plates are corroded badly--beyond possible usage.

The steel parts inside all three carbs were rusted beyond recogniton, including the accelerator pump levers and return springs and float hinges. The cone-shaped nozzles inside the venturi cluster are rusted beyond future usage.

I'm guessing these carbs sat in an unheated garage or possibly were stored outdoors. In spite of the damage by corrosion to the steel parts, the diecast front carb float bowl survived quite well.

Too bad--these correct end carbs are becoming harder to find each year. The cost to repro the float bowls is prohibitive--in the $100,000 region.

Im just glad at least some of them will be recycled. Even though they looked like they saw the bad end of a Peterbilt I couldn't bring myself to toss them.

There is a lesson in here about tunnel vision. I don't know a ton about Tripowers, but the one thing I knew was that the 66 was the most desirable model. I got so invested in trying to read a rusty casting number off the intake I didn't even notice that the intake was broken.

Let me tell you it was an absolute workout to carry that heavy pig with a bunch of sharp edges from the middle of the swap meet to my truck too.
