Just depends if it picks up the bottom end or not and you need that or to lose a little on the bottom to hook.

If you racing class racing and after every last HP your willing to risk longevity for winning races it's a different ball game. Most of us are bracket racers and on a budget want want it to last a while. In this case no reason to push the limits for a few ponies.

4-5 hp u aren't gonna see anywhere, top or bottom, so no testing at the track with say 35 compared to 38-40? I don't see a car picking up much at all with 3-5 degrees more unless the combo is way off!

Sorry for posting this on the Race forum, but this is the most current thread I have seen specifically discussing the old Eheads.
After 3 rebuilds over the last 25 years, I have a now 468 (4.185 Mahles) 10.4 SCR but still have my old RP 87cc EHeads, reworked and refreshed, 2.19/1.77 lifted to 320/230 cfm, running a HR 242/250-112LSA@108, ported Perf RPM int (had Victor- wanted more low-end) now Sniper. Had a free but limited engine dyno (w/BG850) and little tuning time, but best runs were 610HP@5600, 640TQ@4500, and 550TQ@2500, Was dyno'd at 38 with race gas. did not have Vac Adv on last build but now have Sniper controlled Hyperspark. I am running at 36 WOT and high RPM, and 40 at cruise. AFR is set to 12.6 WOT up to 4700 then 12.8 WOT above that - this is a bit richer than the AFR from the dyno runs. Cruise @14.75, idle@14.2@850, I run Shell Nitro 93. I have not been able to chassis dyno this yet. I am trying to understand the best perf. but safe timing and safe AFR with these pre-02 Eheads 87 cc chambers. Any advice appreciated! Last edited by Kedavra; 05-27-2024 at 09:16 AM.
