1973 TransAm Acoustics
I am looking for suggestions for sound deadeners / absorbers for my 1973 Trans AM SD455. During restoration any floor pan sound deadeners were removed and I am now looking for a replacement product(s) which could restore or improve the interior sound level (the car now has a new Pypes exhaust system with the factory cast iron manifolds). The car is now very loud during cruising from 30 - 50 mph so I am looking for improvement in this range. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks wgsz

buy the factory type repro sound deadner kit. or use a dynamat type product. can get it way cheaper at home depot type stores, its usually sold as window & roof seam sealer. an asphalt or rubber based thin layer that stick to metal.
or spray it with a lizard skin or rhino liner type product. |

SOUND DEADNER
if you are trying to stay stock..I would recommend the AMES O.E.M. style kit (it is what I used and photos of the install are on my thread)...some of my original sound deadner remained and was o.k....so I needed to trim accordingly...I replaced under the front and rear seats for the most part and retained the o.e.m. front & rear trans. hump...no one makes an exact repop but this as close as they will make as a duplicate of the original material most likely would be tooo expensive to ship...good luck!! ...does your car still sport the original carpet and are the front seat underneath areas cut out?...just curious as some are and some are not (most likely yours is..thanks!!
