Looks like it's missing a bunch of parts like the exciter box and most of the fuel control components.

Most of the turboprop/turboshaft engines I've worked on (PT6A,RR250-C20&C28, TPE-331) have between 1,500 and 2,500 ft/lbs of torque. I know the Granatellis installed PT6A( ST6N-74 variant) into a few Corvettes back in the late 70s, but these engines were torque limited to 1,000 ft/lbs so a highly modified TH400 could survive behind one.

The power section of a PT6A operates @ 20,000+ rpm. The gear reduction section reduces this to 2,500 rpm max. It take a LOT of torque to spin a propeller fast enough to produce the thrust needed to get an aircraft off the ground and keep it aloft.

One question I have. Are the emissions of these turbines less than the gas engines of yesteryear and today?
I always thought they'd be cool but never looked into them for practicality.

The PT6A-6 is the basic model in the PT6 Turbine engine Series. It is the most used and successful engine.

Turbines use a lot of fuel.

True. The dash 6 was the very first PT6A released for commercial use (1963 if I remember correctly). It was rated at 500 shaft HP. In totally, PT6A engines have logged over 28 million flight hours.

Yep, especially at ground level.

Yeah but it gets better around 40,000 feet. And no car will ever get that high on it's own. LOL
