Pontiac Parisienne EFI Tank in a 65 Bonnie?
Really want to convert to EFI, has anyone used the Parisienne tank in a 65 Bonnie? I know I will lose capacity, but I really want the most "plug & play" set up that doesn't require modifying a replacement tank, or running a noisy inline pump. Plus Auto City Classics still doesn't have a replacement tank in stock and I've only been waiting 18 months for them to get some in.
Replacement tank dimensions- 39 1/2" x 33 3/4" x 6 Parisienne EFI tank dimensions- 37-1/4" x 30" x 7-3/4 Here is a link to the EFI tank.. https://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/p...rod/prd421.htm |

hi kalvert:
i cannot comment on the difference in the two tanks; however, according to those dimensions the parisienne has a capacity of 37.49 gallons vs. the replacement 34.6 gallons. using the fish tank formula: length x width x height in cubic inches divided by 231 (number of c.i. in a gallon. Replacement tank dimensions- 39 1/2" x 33 3/4" x 6 (7998.75 c.i. / 231 = 34.6) Parisienne EFI tank dimensions- 37-1/4" x 30" x 7-3/4 (8660.625 / 231 = 37.49) if the thing fits physically, i think it would work. i used one of there efi tank in my son's 68 deville. the tank was for an oldsmobile. i did have to modify the filler tube, but aside from that, the tank was an easy install. besides 2.89 gallons less saves you $14.45 a fillup ($5.00/gallon.) ciao, mario64 Last edited by Mario64; 04-28-2022 at 04:01 PM. The stock gas tank in a 1965 Pontiac was 26.5 gallons, the Parisienne was 21.5 gallons. Those dimensions must be overall including the flanges around the edge.

Stuart, that must be correct. Tanks Inc lists that efi replacement at 24 gallons so their tank has a little more capacity. Kalvert, I'm sorry I didn't think of that.

Per Tanks website...
"24 Gallon Capacity 1" Deeper than stock Longer straps included with the tank Size is: 37-1/4" x 30" x 7-3/4"" I think in theory it should work, I found a post on here where someone used a 65 impala tank. Now just got to make up my mind on which EFI setup I want to go with.. Either Super Sniper Stealth or Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4. |

I have a fuel injected 70 Bonneville (same trunk pan as your 65), and have gone down this same path. I did use the Tanks Inc Parisienne tank for a while, and it did work OK, but I was never completely satisfied with the fit. The problem is that its designed for a Parisienne, which shares its trunk pan with the Impala. Its a fair bit wider and it really starts to crowd the tailpipes.
I'll attach a couple of pics that show how it fit in my application. I welded up a custom set of straps to account for the fact that the strap placement on the Parisienne tank didn't match the 65-70 fullsize Pontiac. I have since moved on to a solution I like much better. I ended up buying one of the Musclecar EFI modules from Holley that make use of their Hydramat product and let you add an EFI pump to your stock tank. They don't make one specifically for the 65-70 fullsize Pontiac, but the one they sell for the 70-73 Firebird works great with only the smallest bit of tweaking. I've had this one in my car for a few years now, and am much happier with my stock tank back in the car. https://www.holley.com/products/fuel...s/parts/12-301 -Scott

Here's some pics of the Holley module for the 70-73 Firebird being used in my stock 70 fuel tank.

Cant use my current tank as its barely holding gas as it is, plus I'm cleaning my carb out monthly to remove rust, and changing the fuel filter every 1k miles. To add insult to injury, Auto City Classics still can not give a definitive eta on when they will get stock replacement tanks in. Hence the reason why i was looking for a short term/mid term solution.

I have that tank in my 66 bonnie conv with Fitech. I am able to use the stock straps. One issue is that the tank does hang lower(its thicker). The stock tank is nice and slim. Let me know what pics you want if any.

There's a franchise called Gas Tank Renu that cleans and seals old rusty tanks, there's one not far from Houston. May be an alternative to replacing it altogether. https://www.gastankrenu.com/gas-tank-renu-texas/
