Default 72 455 HO 7F6 Head Date Code Help Needed

Hi, I have a pair of 7F6 heads and Aluminum HO Intake I plan on selling soon

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with the date codes
so I know what to list them as, and an approx current value?

The head #s are as follows:
Head 1
Go11 .....(or 601I depending on how you look at it)
G D->N 1
M 7F6

No Valves, Springs, Guideplates, Bare Head Never grinded on or machined
End Bolt Holes not drilled.

Head 2
Go11 .....(or 601I depending on how you look at it)
G D->N 2
M 7F6

No Valves, Springs, Guideplates, Bare Head, End Bolt Holes not drilled.
Only 1 Pare of the Intake ports have had some "casting flash" smothed over and matched
to the gasket, Port shape is not changed, Valve Chamber & Bowl areas all untouched
(previous owner was going to race with them whem Edelbrocks became available arround 93' or 94'
he quit on rebuilding them)

Are the heads original to a certian build date or are they service replacements?
I figure they were cast in the Night shift First week of June, but I'm probely wrong
looks like a matched pair with the #1 & #2 on the end ports, the center of the
intake ports has the "dip" or "notch" between the runners and the end exhaust bolt holes
are not drilled or tapped.

Intake #s are as follows:
On Top- 488946
On Bottom- 4-12-72 (looks like the date to me)
6547

No issues or modifications, I have special the Center studs & washers to mount it.

Heat Crossover #s are as follows
9796395
SCC 2
8-11-70 (looks like the date to me)
Is this a 70 Ra IV, or a 71 455HO crossover? Its in real good shape & has a choke coil, no shrouds

Also where would be a good place to list them for sale?
70-72 GTO, 70-81 Firebird, Race? Street?
I dont want to chase after multiple threads to sell them.
and I dont want to deal with ePay.

Whats a realistic asking price for the Heads, Intake, Crossover & Bolts?

Thanks on any advise.

July of 1971?

Those are some real early heads!

The crossover is a 71 - the 72's are one year only crossover and heat shield and are not reproduced.

G011 means July 1, 1971. As early as 1972 heads can be.

and the recessed areas in the intake dividers are normal for the early date 7F6 heads. If I'm remembering right the Jan. '72 dated and later castings did not come with the recessed areas

Thanks for the reply guys it helps alot!

Is there any possibility that an very early 72 could have a 71 style crossover?
Or is this totally not a possibility?
The Intake & Crossover were Both sprayed The correct Blue on the top Surfaces only

I doubt if a previous owner replaced it they would redo the overspray
on the crossover? Unless it was an older rebuild job I was looking at.
Any way I stripped the intake to bare aluminum and painted the crossover black years ago so I cant show any photos of it that way.

I bought the Heads & Intake off of a guy who claimed they were from the same car
a 72 455 HO Formula, I have no reason to doubt him as I saw the car and he was making it
into a street / race car in about 1993 or 1994 Before the value of original cars went crazy,
he was looking for cash to buy the "new" edelbrock pontiac heads at the time and showed
me the engine he was rebuilding

Whats a fair market value for these? I know what I have into buying them, I just want to know
if they went up or down in value since i got them. Is there a still a big demand for them?

The intake was cast on April 12 of 1972 and would not have come with the 71 crossover. The intake that belongs with those heads was casting #485640 and I don't believe the crossover or shields were painted from the factory.

Value these days is a real hard thing to put your finger on. Although asking prices for the intakes are in the 7-900 range, I've bought a couple for less than $400 - one with the correct crossover.
