I am assuming your question was a poke at Gach. But if not, it only requires BB headers, BB frame mounts for the motor mounts and maybe adapting the radiator connections. It is really too simple.

Actually if it's a late 70 some of the frame mounts will accept the chevy stand without changing them. Easier yet huh?

Kind of resurecting this from the dead, but did you ever complete this swap?

He' dude,
*Brake booster fits?,(9.800"deck or 10.200" tall-deck).
*fuel-line.(other side)
*transmission?(adapter-plate).
*Hood-space(up).

I'm gonna install a Merlin 540ci(10.200" tall-deck) in my Pontiac GTO '72 and got the same problems i think!

Do you gonna drag-race this combo?.
What is the complete power-combo(specs)?

See you later!,

merlin540ci goat.

I just don't know why people keep insisting on putting the "c" word into Pontiacs. Get a chevelle. Please. The pontiac engine has proven its worth time and again. You wouldn't take shortcuts on a paint job, interior or maybe your rollbar. Why on earth would someone take the easy way out on their drivetrain?? Just my opinion. If I find a 72 chevelle for you will you trade??

I say if it's your car and you want to spend the $$$, then do whatever you want to it. Hell, put one of those 528 Hemis in it. That would be kind of cool!

I squeezed a 540 in my 79 TA, no real problems at all. Streetable too with 9.5 to 1's in it. Nice power, forged crank...ain't squirt it...yet

I did it for more reliability, easier parts finding and much cheaper. I did the Pontiac thing and it is just too much cash to do it right. I could buy 2 Merlin blocks for the price of 1 IA block, I know because I had an IA block. Nothing at all against Pontiacs, don't get me wrong it's just a better scenario for me with a BBC. Thanks...
