Removing 67 GTO Front Springs, Lower Control Arm Help
So the manual says to remove the drum in order to lower the lower control arm.
Well, removed the drum but there is a backing plate that is in the way as well (see pic). When the manual says to remove the drum, does it mean the whole brake drum w/assy ? I just don't see how removing only the drum will help the lower control arm drop down, as that plate is still in the way. |

I ended up removing the two lower bolts that go through the plate (forget the name)
It then wiggled free. Hardest part was removing the drums. The lug nut studs had a collar of some sort on them and they so tight, I literally had to hammer each stud back into the drum just so the drum would wiggle. Yes I need new studs now... |

So I was supposed to remove the grease cap/cotter pin, castle nut, and pull off the whole assy? fook...
Well...I am addressing a frozen-on drum issue now rather than later. Thinking a front dic conversion might be in order after this fiasco. |
