Default Rear bumper steps on a 63 Safari?

I found this 63 Safari in Mansfield, WA., it has steps attached to the rear bumper, one on each side. Are these a Pontiac/dealer accessory or aftermarket? They fit the bumper quite nicely.

The step is a factory part #545123 for 1963 & 1964 wagon.

'62s had 'em, too...neat piece. Also interesting to see bumper steps and no luggage rack...are there holes or obvious signs that there once was a L.R.?

It looks like it might have had a wind deflector above the rear window and on each side? I can't see if it had a luggage rack, it probably did and it was taken.

Wink Someone should be trying to buy the whole car...

Factory tinted glass all round too. It seems a shame to leave it out there.

Can't someone drag it home?????

Thumbs up Cool

I would be interested for my '63 if they are available. Please keep us posted.

The side molding looks really good too. The interior looks in very good shape.

That would make a fantastic parts car or project.

Agreed, it appears to be in good shape considering. Can't believe how nice the chrome on the rear bumper looks! Lots of good parts there for sure.

I will see about getting the whole car. I have a friend in Sedro Whooley that will let me store it at his place.

BB, as long as you're looking into it, what's the deal on the 'more-door' in the background? Could make another righteous driver for someone! (Kinda hard to tell for sure, but is that a '64 Olds 88?)

Both cars are awesome.

What are you doing wandering around Mansfield, Big Banger. That is almost the middle of nowhere.

We were looking at some old International trucks, a friend of mine bought this 1940 International 11 passenger school bus in Ford, WA.

Wow! Makes me want to get OTRA.

Must have expected some heavy hitters to be riding in that thing with a suspension like that for just an 11 passenger. Maybe it was a stealth A-bomb hauler. That would make a killer project as well. Never seen another body style like that. Super rare being war era too.

It would be nice to know the history of that thing, the same body style was used for ambulances in the war. It might get a Cummins...

Wow,... great pictures.

From personal experience,... my first '64 came out of WA (Spokane).. It was an awesome car to start with and I'd buy a car out of WA in a heart beat.... The problem with my aqua Catalina was that is sat outside for years without a top on it. It rusted from the inside out. The pits in the frame you could count on one hand. It was the holes in the floor board and trunk floor where water sat that caused 90% of the sheet metal work.

Nice find and great pics... I love that wagon.

Default Cool Safari!

If you end up getting that wagon and decide to part it out let me know, I could use a few items for my Safari project.....
